The silky white petals of Tree Peony rockii have deep burgundy bases forming massive bowl-shaped blooms up to 20cm in diameter! From late spring until early summer this beautiful and exotic tree peony will shine in your borders, making a fantastic cut flower too. Renowned for being long-lived plants, Tree Peony rockii is hardy and disease resistant ensuring a colourful display for years to come. Height and spread: 1.5m (60″).
Culinary information: The petals can be added to salads, or cooked slightly and sweetened for a treat. Peony water was also once considered a delicacy and the blooms can be floated in punches. For more details about edible flowers click here.

Caution: harmful if eaten. Grow tree peonies in sun or semi shade, in well drained soil. Choose a position that is sheltered from cold winds and shaded from strong early morning sunlight. Add plenty of well rotted manure or compost ensuring that it is mixed in thoroughly and deeply. Plant tree peonies so that the grafted union sits at least 10cm (4”) below the soil surface. Shallow planting may hinder establishment and delay flowering.
Feed and water regularly until plants are fully established. Remove faded flowers and cut back old foliage in autumn. In spring, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost to the base of the plant.
